MG Force Impulse Ver K (Work In Progress)

Got this MG from Bernard a while ago. I have been procrastinating on that I will not be getting this but due to the Internal Frame this kit has and to me it sort of a preview of the upcomming RX-78 Ver 2.0 ( Yeah I'm a Lover of the old UC gunpla and Zeonpla LOLZ ). So I started this a few days ago. Progress is slow due to the amount of commission work that I have to clear so only have a day maybe 1 to 2 hours to work on my kit, Further more the SMC is kicking off operation soon on this 13th of July so it gonna be a very busy month for me and also I'm in the mid of doing my Bakuc project for this year. sweat.gif It almost done but still need a little tweaking. So I be putting that aside till further news from Sheng Tai on their announcement date of Bakuc 2008.

Ok here is the review I had for this kit while working on it.

MS Force Impulse Mini review

The frame use by this kit is almost the same as all the frame use by the Seed series. Mainly the Strike Freedom frame. The arms and Legs are almost the same. The only difference is the Main Upper body and lower torso. The middle intersection is not entirely hollow. The connector point is the four mini hydraulics that connect the upper torso to the lower torse with a small hollow section to house the core fighter. Only the main cockpit intersection will be connected onto the upper and lower torso. The rest will be outside the body. When without the outer armor piece it will be very protruding but after the armor has been place on. The protruding section of the core fighter won't be that much smile.gif So Kudos to Bandai for making this design. But articulations on the torso won't be as solid as the MG Destiny. No bending forward or backward in the centre of the torso. But it remove the overall fat looking torso that the NG or the old RX-78 has to offer smile.gif I will update more on this review when i built further smile.gif

Now for the modding I have done. Overall the proportion of the frame is good. So I had to work on the armor as there is nothing I can do to make the torso bend forward or backward without "wasting" the core fighter. So i skip that section and work on the "cosmetic" outlook of the armor. This is what I have done to on the upper body

Now for a close up on the chest. I have made some changes to the left and right upper chest armor pieces. As it molded in one piece. As I would want to show off the internal frame as I will use star bright silver on it to make it shine. So I had to remove the one piece molding and break it into different level. On the right upper armor I have remove the upper portion and make it separated attachement piece. And have added some detail piece under it

The upper chest armor I have added some Koto parts and some panel lines on it to make it more mechanical. I choose to make the panel line slightly different from the left and right so it will show a slight difference between them smile.gif No sense but kinda like it LOLZ. The shoulder armor piece is nicely molded and detailed. So I just gave it a few panel lines to make it look seperated smile.gif

Now onto the arms armors
You you all can see, I have added a hover groove onto the upper arms unit as when it flying without combining into a gundam. It can still land. As it don't have wheels to land the unit. So a hover groove will make a little sense to it when it needed to land

These are the modification I have did in order to show off the upper internal frame.

Now for the Lower legs frames mods that I have did. As for the upper thighs I have done some cutting to allow the internal frame to be expose yet still maintain the gimmick for it to move. And some of the lower legs armor has been cut off to show the lower legs frame. Will be doing more detailing to it once I have done all the cutting.

Scale Model Club (KGCC) Open House

I would like to announce to everyone that the 1st local Scale Modeling Club has kick off it operations. There will be an Open House for public to visit and the members of Katoots are Invited to come over to the Open House event. Scale Modeling Club ( S.M.C ) is under the wing of PA and we're operating at Kampong Glam Community Club. S.M.C has been sent up for one main purpose. It to expose scale modeling as a Hobby to the public and to have a fixed workshop which is located in the heartland centre which members can easily access the workshop from all locations in Singapore. The Community Club can be reach via MRT or Buses. Membership is open for registration on that day with Discount Vouchers by M-Workshop.

Hi everyone :) This is around the year in Japan where there will be a huge toyshow in Tokyo where it feature lots of very solid toys and model kits that will be announce :) I have always wanted to visit Japan one of these days since I was very young. Lucky thing is my "going to be married to me" wife has agreed to go to Japan for our Honeymoon next year. I just can't wait LOLz :) In the mean time let me share these photos with you all :)

Hi everyone. I have been building non-Gunpla kit recently and this is one of the more rare kit that is release by Bandai quite a long time ago.I have recently bought it overseas from Japan. Here is a simple writeout I took from Wiki to give everyone an in-sight on what is the Big-O is all about :) The animation DVDs has been release in the market quite a while ago and I'm sure you still can pick up a copy or two :)

When I saw the show a few years ago Roger Smith always reminds me of Bruce Wayne. And the Big-O is like a super huge batman LOLZ :)

Hasegawa VF-0S Reactive Armor

Hi everyone. Just to share with everyone my one of my recent Commission Job from one of my customer. I have been working on this Hasegawa kit for quite sometime and I have finally completed it a few weeks ago. Overall the height of this kit is quite tall compare to the regular Gundam plastic model kit that I have built so I quite enjoy the process in building this. And the way of building it and the shortcuts in painting the kits is quite different from the standard Gundam Model kits too. But despise all the detail on the kit. The articulations and movable gimmicks is still far far away from Bandai. Hopefully Bandai's Macross Frontier kit will be at this size of Hasegawa and the articulation of Gundam

Without the chest armor on( The rest is all armored-claded as they can't be removed as it hollow. The arms can be removes but there are 2 pegs on the side of the arms that make it look ugly without the arms armor on. I actually wanted to pre-shade this kit but due to the customer's request for it to be painted clean. No weathering and shading. So it ended up looking more old school anime type rather than the weathered mecha machine shown inside Macross Zero :)

Master Grade Gundam ver O.Y.W Animation Colour 95%

Hi everyone. This is one of my recent built and it is the grand-daddy of the Gundam Universe. The RX-78-2. This model kit it a newly engineered model kit that feature solid proportions and articulations that allows this kit to make quite alot of signatures poses that it did during the animation is shown. This kit was release by Bandai during the Video Game that was release on the Playstation 2 platform a few years back and the original colour on the kit is more pinkish and milky brown compare to the original animation colours are. So I waited and Bandai release the Animation Colour verison of it. Ok enough of my blanting LOLZ :) I have built it Out of Box and with some slight modding to the legs to allow more articulations to it. Beside that this model kit inner frame that holds the armours didn't really restrict it movements too much. And I have changes the panel lines colours also to give it a different looks and to bring out the level of detail on this kit. Since the version 2 of RX-78-2 is releasing soon. I think it better to chunk out this kit before my version 2 reached :) In the mean time do enjoy these photos and a mini short story that i come up with. Overall this kit is still not completed yet to me as I felt the decals should have more. I have order some decals overseas and it will reach me soon. Once i have completed the decal job I will post more photos on this wonderful kit :) P.S Some photoshopped effects are use to tell this mini story LOLZ

Gundam OO GN-003 Kyrios

Hi everyone. I have been quite busy setting up my own plastic modeling club that I have taken quite a while sorting out all the infos and purchases needed to set up the new club. My old workshop is closing down as the owner is facing some trouble sorting his stuffs out. I was feeling very sad as I was one of the longest members around there and are the only instructor there that teached Gunpla. But never the less I have found a new place and will be shifting there by June. So hope to see more people coming in and join me in my conquest for plastic modeling as I'm trying my best to help the plastic modeling committee to grow. So do drop by and say hi to me when I set up my new club in my new workshop :)

So this is one of my new work. The GN-003 Kyrios from Gundam OO and it at the 1/100 scales.

This is the Kyrios Plane Mode. The original cockpit is jus a huge pile of plastic and It quite ugly. So I have scratch built a cockpit into it. As the Gundam Pilot don't sit inside there and the official info is there is a sensor built inside the cockpit so I took this idea and make a array sensor inside it to make it looks like what you have seen inside the animations.

Genesis Climber Mospeada Completed ^_^

Finally I have completed the Genesis Climber Mospeada a few days ago. And this is the result.
Below are the 2 variations the Bike and the Armored mode. One thing i found out when working on old and aged model kit it the stability of the kit itself. When it on the bike mode. parts that are suppose to stay on but not cement is not always able to stay on so i had to use some bluetack to hold it in place. Now have replace it with polycaps and extra runner parts to hold the armors in place and to prevent things from dropping off when it transformed into the Armored mode. I also took the liberty to give the bike a darker red colour which will make it stand out from the rider's body armor colour. Reason is because I wanted the armored mode kit to sport
a look like it has layers of different reds from any angels you see it. Finally i can pass this to the customer le.

Genesis Climber Mospeada

Hi everyone. This is the most recent commission job that i have received from my regular customer's friend. He has saw my worksmanship on my previous commission job that i did for his friend makes him want to hired me to built his kits for him. He is a Macross fan and also a Mospeada fan. When i meet up with him a few weeks ago he pass me 2 kits. 1 is the Hasegawa 1:72 VF-0S Reactive Armor and this Variable Mospeada Kit from Aoshima. The Hasegawa kit is quite new so building it won't be much of a problem but this Aoshima kit is old. I'm surprise he kept it in such a good condition. Not too sure if you can find this Mospeada model kit in the market anymore so I straight away jump start this project 1st before i move onto his VF-0S reactive armor kit. The older kit has more brittle plastic and the decals are old. So while i was building this kit i have left the yellow decal at my window to give it some exposure under the sunlight rays to whiten the decals again. And it help to restore at least 80% of it. The customer wanted the Kit to be painted in Red so the colour scheme has been change from the normal greenish blue to Red. Had prime the kit grey Before I'm able to switch the colour to the red colour scheme the customer has ask. For now it 70% completed and will be uploading the complete bike and rider before decaling soon. In the mean time enjoy these photos :)

PS2 Gundam Musou Special

I have recently got my hand of this wonderful game :) It release for the PS2 :) And since I don't plan to get a PS3 until the release of Metal Gear solid 4. And yet I so wanted to play this game and i happened to get the news from some forum saying that Koei decide to release a special version or Updated version for the PS2. I was hyped by it and waited day and night for it to arrived. And finally it arrived and I got a chance to play in 1st hand. The graphic for the PS2 and the PS3 differences is the smoothness of the graphic, That is the differences i see as the detail on the PS2 is almost identical to the PS3 counter-part. So far i have play thru Amuro ray's mission mode and unlocked Chars and his Gelgoog. But there are more MS to unlock, The gameplay is like Dynasty warriors with Mobile Suits from the Gundam Universe. And there are 2 different story mode. Original and custom. The pilots and MS from the Original can step into the Custom story mode when you unlock them in the Original Mode. SO double story for the original MS from the UC and single story line for the custom MS. And the stage is long and huge. It a game worth playing again and again to unlock all the Mobile suits inside it. I can for-see I will be playing this game when I'm off modeling or in-between rest waiting for the paint to cure on the model kits LOLz :) Let go Gundam Musou Special :)

Master Grade Zaku II Version 2

I'm always a Zeonpla (Zeon plastic Model) fan so the Zakus to me is always a must. And since it release of version 2 for the Master grade i straight away jump onto the bandwagons and managed to get a few at very good prices. Below these few pictures are to show how good the articulation this model kit has. Don't mind the small jokes i have pull here to show the articulations :) And it not fully completed yet as I'm still waiting for my decals to arrived before I'm able to do it. It done in the light pre-shaded style :)

Gundam Dynames 1/100 NG

This is the 2nd model kit under the Gundam OO NG 1/100 series line. Same clean style building and decaling. As per usual no mod on this kit as it overall very good built. Even better than Exia LOLZ :) The kit comes with a pair of Gn Pistols and a long range beam rifle. And a armor coat for it mid-series add-on :) Do take a look at it and hope you all like it :)

Gundam Exia 1/100 NG Kit

This is one of the new model kit that I have got from a group built of building them as they are release from Japan. The model kits release is based on the new anime series by Sunrise. Kidou Senshi Gundam OO. The scale of this kit is on the platform of NG (Non-Grade) 1/100 scales. I have fun building this kit compare to the Gundam seed NG 1/100 kits due to the Improvement of the articulations of the model kit itself and the seamline reductions of the kit. When i was building the old Seed kits seamlines is really a pain to clear. But when i started working on this new NG from Gundam OO. It prove to be much fun to built and to paint as almost all the parts can be airbrushed before fixing. So I only did a simple snap-fitting to see the overall kit and to check seamlines before doing all the sanding job and painting. Decals are mainly red to bring out the clean unit built. I have take some action pose which in older NG kits are not able to do so without modding :) Enjoy the pictures below :)

Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan

Hee hee this is one of the small fun built that i have done during the weekend when i was at the workshop teaching my students on their gunpla building. The kit itself building phrase and quality is close to the First Grade of Gunpla. Simple hand and legs movements but one thing that make me very happy is they actually paint the eyes of the kit for me. :) Ha ha ha less masking job to do LOLZ :) But overall it completed withing a day. So to me i think it a fun built and to have a mecha kit built unlike the regulars Gunpla :) Cool

Kurt Roswell Zaku II MS-06R-2

This is the completed MS-06R-2 Zaku II that Kurt Roswell piloted inside the Arcade Game "Spirit of Zeon" This project consist of two MS. One is the one you see here and another one is in process which is the blue Zaku II which is piloted by Robin Bradshaw. It currently about 60% completed for it. It near to the time of valentine day and I would like to take this chance to tell everyone a small tale and a small wish of mine. I shall tell this small tale to everyone.

I used to work in the sales line selling IT related products, having to meet all sorts of people everyday and new working colleagues coming in and leaving. I have meet this girl who has stolen my heart the 1st time i saw her. Her name is Stephanie.

Of course at the 1st chance i will have approached her but i was really shy back then, So i use the really old approached of trying to help her along at work and finding chances to chat with her and the whole nine yards. But till then I still didn't know she has found another job in the Banking line and are leaving. Knowing that if i don't make the 1st move i would not have stand a chance to let her know that I have fallen for her. So I pick up all my courages to ask her out for a date. And she accepted :)

I can still clearly remember the movie we went to watch for the 1st time. But don't ask me the story as I can only remember is her face as I was not watching the movie at all as i was trying to pick up my courages to tell her that I would like to start a relationship with her. And finally i managed to find a chance that very day to tell her that I love her. She is surprise that I will pop the question as she can feel that I'm really very interested in her. And She say "Yes" as she has the same feeling towards me. In all these years I have venture into alot of different traits and She has always give me her fullest support and encouragement to keep me pushing ahead.

All the things i have accomplished so far is all because of her. So let me take this chance to say " Will you Marry Me Stephanie? I will give you all of mine and will always be there for you to hold onto till the end of time. Give me the chance to give our little fairy tale a "Live together happily ever after" ending. I LUV YOU Stephanie. Happy Valentine's day

Gundam Seed Astray Blue Frame 2nd L

Out from the start of the Astray side stories from the Gundam Seed era comes this Frame that carries a huge Bulky Buster sword that can have different forms. It built makes me wanted to built it compare to other 1/100 NG Seed kit release by Bandai. I have built this kit within 3 days as I'm having my reservist now and on the 1st few days I don't need to stay in camp. So i took this extra time to chunk out this wonderful kit. Beside accompany my wife out shopping and watching movie during this 3 days. I managed to built this kit on the little spare time i got ha ha ha :) Ok when i was building this frame i start off with the sword as i really like it. Not much seams line are found on the kit beside a few that are well hidden by the armors pieces of this kit. And after all painting and panel lining of the kit. It finally close to completing it but i find that this kit deserve lots of large decals even thought i have place quite a few on it, But i think it shoudl sport more because of the large surface it has. So until then when i have the time to go to Sunshine plaza to get more decals i shall leave it as it is and continuing on my 2nd Zaku for the Spirit of Zeon built. A New Project called Spirit Of Zeon

One of my project that stray me away from my commission job for the time being. I'm created the exact Mobile Suits The 2 Special Zaku II from the Arcade Game called 'Spirit of Zeon'. It an Arcade Shooter where you play as the Zeonic side against the E.F.S.F. The red one that i have shown here is still under work in progress. The base body that i use the Master Grade Johnny Ridden Crimson Zaku II. Shave away the standard horns on the shoulder and replace it with the signature demon horn found on the insignal of the skull design. The colour has been change to the correct colour scheme of the in-game MS. I will update more photos on this MS once i have complete all the decal job and panel line wash. In the mean time enjoy this teaser photo :)

SD Gundam Romance Of The Three Kingdom

Up till recently I was approached by one customer who wanted me to work on his SD Gundams. Having work on SD gundam before i know it gonna be a big patch job as there are lots of holes at the back of the kit. For example like the back of the hands, Legs and Helmet horns and stuffs like that. Lot of puttying job but it nice to take a break from the regulars gundam model kits. He has brought down 7 of them. I have pick up these 2 to work on 1st and will be posting the rest of the completed SD Kits soon. These are from the latest SD gundam series that are release. This is my final Piece of entry to this year BAKUC 2007. Before i carry one i must inform everyone this is a old NG 1/100 kit release by bandai before the release of the MG version. I make some mods to the full kit. And lots of armor linings has been done to it. And the head i have made some major changes to it to make it look different from the original Turn A gundam. As usual i have done it the Visual Kain way and this Turn A is the latest of my line of model kit i have done. The base was masked spray to give it the effect i seek. Overall i really like this kit and how it turn out to be :)

Another entry for this year BAKUC 2007 open category. Overall it a nice kit to built and it took me a week to finish the full kit. But the kit comes without the base so i made a custom base out of a plastic base that comes with a old action figure. The chinese words " Dong Fang Bu Bai" was masked directly on the base. I really like the outcome of the masking as the chinese words turns out very striking on the base itself :)

Strike Gundam IWSP Ver Kain

This is one of my entry for this year BAKUC 2007 open category. This kit is one of the kits that takes alot of my time to built. Lots of seams lines and mold lines to clear. The gatling gun support port has the most mold lines and it was a pain to clear them. In the mid i did take some break off to do other stuffs and play some some C & C 3 games. The strike gundam face insignal was masked directly on the base that the kit comes with.Overall i managed to complete this kit in 2 months time due to alot of slacking around :) LOLz

This is one of the commission job that i have receive for a young chap who is going for his NS soon. He was asking for help in painting his kit up at one local forum and he founded Hobby workshop. His has a wish when he comes by to hobby workshop. Haven seen my work display at the workshop he finally have decided to approach me thru the shop owner to let me work his kit for him. He wanted me to give it the very look that i have done for most of my kit. And i did and also help this kid grant his wish. I promise him i will give him his Blitz within 2 weeks time. And the 2nd week he arrived he received this kit with joy :) I'm glad that I'm able to fufill his wish :) And from since he is one of the long term customer of Hobby Workshop ever since.

During my duration at Hobby Workshop i have received 2 students who are learning Plastic modeling from me. I'm a easy going person but when it comes to modeling i will automatically turn my focus on the kits I'm working on. And I'm glad that i have impart the influences of focus on my students. Overall they start off slow and unsure where to start off like which parts should i sand and which parts should i cement and stuffs like that. And they start asking questions on how to built model kits and watching me work on commission kits. In a short term of 1 month plus 2 of them have managed to complete their kits and i have encourage them to join in the BAKUC 2007 Junior cup. I wholeheartedly wish them all the best and I'm proud to have them as my students :) So without holding everyone back. These are the work they have produce :)

This is a UC hard Graph Model Kit Zaku II Head Bust. I have bought this kit when i was with my band of brothers from the Hobby workshop who visit CQC. When i have seen the kit for the 1st time i told myself "Great, I'm gonna get myself a ZAKU II bust :) " So i bought it straight from the shop and when back home to start building it. Master Grade Pre-Shading Effect Model Kits

I have built this kit a while ago for a local Model Kit competition by a local forum Katoots. And to my susprise it won me 2 medals. One for the best show award and the OOB (Out Of Box) Champion. I have apply my own style of pre-shade on this kit and it was the 1st kit i managed to pull off which defined my style of shadings and I'm really very happy that my style was well-like by other fellow modelers and collectors alike. I've name it the Visual Kain style. Due to my liking for using this style i have continued to use this skills for all the up-coming model kits and the commission jobs i have received thru Hobby Workshop. Hope you all like this :)

This is one of the model kit that one of my fellow modeler Pockey has built. This kit is a 1/144 HGUC (High Grade Universal Century) Each 1/144 model kit stand 12 to 15cm tall and are feature quite nice detailing and panel lines. This is a clean built with not pre-shaded effects and are close to the animation colours. And due to the size of the model kit. It need very steady hands to airbrush the colors and detailing into it.
